Introduction. In modern conditions in the Russian Federation at the municipal level, significant attention is paid to the development of project implementation practice. Of particular importance is the participation of municipalities in the implementation of the regional component of federal projects that are part of national projects. This is because national projects implement the national development goals determined by the President of the Russian Federation for the long term and affect the level and quality of life of the population of the Russian Federation.

Despite the availability of scientific publications and studies on national projects in general and their implementation at the municipal level, the issues of fulfilling the costs of local budgets for the implementation of the regional component of national projects have not been sufficiently investigated. At the same time, the study of the parameters for financing these expenditures of local budgets is relevant in terms of identifying patterns, problems and developing directions for improving the practice of implementing national projects on the ground.

The article solved the scientific task of studying the expenditures of local budgets on financing regional projects (the regional component of federal projects) that are part of national projects of the Russian Federation for the period 2021-2022 for municipalities of the Russian Federation, grouped by federal districts.

Materials and methods. Information base of a research was made by data of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation. The research methods are grouping, comparative and dynamic analysis.

Results. The results of the study consist in assessing the quantitative parameters of the expenditures of local budgets for the implementation of national projects in terms of their regional component, as well as indicators of the implementation of planned expenses (in comparison with the federal districts of the Russian Federation, in comparison with 2021-2022).

Discussion. The obtained results can be used to better study the specifics of the activities of municipalities on national projects in a particular region, to develop general recommendations for improving the work of the state authorities, local self-government bodies and interaction between them both in terms of financing national projects and in general in terms of project management.
