Introduction. The purpose of this study is to assess the state of development of the agricultural sector, identify key development problems and identify promising areas of development. Agriculture is the primary sector of the country's economy. For the development of the agricultural sector, a stable analysis of the development of the industry is necessary, the results of which are necessary to determine the directions of development. The article analyzes the current state of the agricultural sector in the Knyagininsky municipal district, identifies trends and features of its development.

Materials and methods. The essence and necessity of the development of agricultural industries are considered. The influence of agricultural development on the level and quality of life of the rural population is substantiated. The research methods that justified the results of the study are presented.

Results. The structure of gross agricultural production by categories of farms in the Knyagininsky municipal district is considered, as a result of which it is revealed that the agriculture of the district is represented by three forms of ownership of agricultural production organizations where agricultural organizations occupy a dominant place. The production of the main types of agricultural products by categories of farms is analyzed, during the analyzed period the cost of products increases in all categories of farms. The provision of equipment for farms is presented, during the analyzed period there is an increase in the number of tractors in the district, while the load on 1 tractor increases due to an increase in the area of arable land and the acquisition of high-performance equipment. The structure of investments in fixed assets is considered, in the structure of investments more than 70% is allocated to manufacturing and only 10% to the agricultural sector.

Discussion. Based on the analysis of the current state, the key problems of the development of the agricultural sector of the Knyagininsky municipal district are identified and the directions of development are proposed.
