Introduction. The article examines the problems of education and teaching, which have recently been in the focus of public attention. This is the reform of the educational system itself, improving the quality of the educational process, developing its material and technical base, issues of the material well-being of teachers. The public is still concerned about the Unified State Exam system, preparing students for life in modern realities, the social status of the profession of «teacher». The educational situation is closely related to the place of its localization and therefore its development is often associated with the territory where the interaction of the main authors of the educational process takes place: teachers, students and their parents. Of interest is the analysis of this social space, which, in particular, occurs in municipalities, in the cities of a particular region.
Methods. To study the problem, the method of sociological questionnaire survey was used, which was conducted in 5 cities of the Sverdlovsk region. More than 2 thousand teachers took part in it. The purpose of the survey was to identify the state of social well-being of teachers and the influence of various factors on it. The reason and theoretical premise for conducting such a study was the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of the first domestic monograph devoted to such a form of social existence of matter as social space. The methodological basis was the works of domestic and foreign sociologists on the problems of social space.
Results and discussion. It should be noted that the most intense interaction is with students, somewhat weaker with the parents of students. The best relationships are with colleagues at work. The respondents made a conscious choice of the profession «teacher» and the majority are not going to change their profession. The respondents in the vast majority are confident in the need for educational reforms and point to factors that hinder the effectiveness of educational results. The article analyzes the attitude of teachers to the Unified State Exam, distance learning, to the existing reporting system. The study showed that the location (geographical factor) of the city does not have a fundamental impact on the well-being of teachers, a more significant role is played by historical features of development, socio-economic factors: first of all, the specificity of social production. The existing system of training and retraining of teachers contributes to the formation of professional identity, the creation of a socio-psychological community, the development of a common system of norms and traditions, values and social attitudes among teaching staff.
